MY AD1 JOURNEY
Introduction to the Module
ARC60208 Architectural Design 1, is one of the core modules for this programme. The purpose of this module is to help present and explain design through the expression of the perception of ‘self’ and the body, construction, and materiality in terms of tectonics. This module also allows students to undertake a series of studio-based exercises and assignments that introduces the fundamental methods, principles and approaches in design thinking and basic spatial design. This will be enhanced with understanding of anthropometrics and designing intrapersonal space.
Each assignment assigned in this module have their own learning outcomes. For assignment 1, the learning outcome is to allow students to produce designs at appropriate complexity and scales up to the schematic level using appropriate communication tools. For the second assignment, the learning outcome allows students to work in a team and participate in the design process. For the final assignment, the learning outcome allows students to demonstrate creativity, innovation and imagination and translate these into an architectural design solution.
