Project 1 : Starchitects
Task 1 : Identify and Research
For the first task, I was assigned to identify my favourite ‘ starchitect’ from the list. The 'starchitect' I chose was Frank Gehry. I later then had to conduct background research about the architect, in order to understand the architect’ s style and personality.
Task 2 : Sketching
After doing research, I was required to sketch an initial idea and composition of the poster on an A4 drawing paper. The poster sketched consisted the name of the architect with a subtitle, the portrait or figure of the architect, three prominent buildings designed by the architect, 5 to10 line texts to describe the biography, interesting facts and famous quotes of the architect.
The three buildings selected :
1. Dancing House, Prague, Czechia
2. Biomuseo, Museum in Panama City, Panama
3. Walt Disney Concert Hall, Los Angeles, California
My Progress
Although this assignment was only mostly about researching and sketching, I found it enjoyable. I actually found it interesting and amusing while learning and researching about Frank Gehry and his buildings, as I never actually studied or even visited any of his work before. I also enjoyed the process of sketching and colouring the buildings.
